A passive acoustic monitoring deployment for the study of the Ryukyu rabbit has begun, spearheaded by world specialist Prof. Yamada and with the support of the QuruGuru Museum and the Amami Wildlife Center. The survey will last several months and aims to investigate occupancy, distribution, and behavioral traits of this endemic species.
